Duo Difference

Feel The Duo difference

Weddell Duo was engineered to do what most shower filters don’t — combine effective filtration with thoughtful design. Its two-stage, directional system reduces chlorine while maintaining verified reductions of PFAS and particulates, all without compromising water pressure.

We filter our drinking water,
but what about our shower water?

According to the EPA, showering is one of the top uses of water. Yet, unfiltered tap water often contains chlorine, PFAS, microplastics, and other contaminants that can impact your health.

What’s in your shower water?

Even treated municipal water can contain substances that may impact your skin, hair, and overall water experience.

Chlorine
Chlorine is commonly used to disinfect municipal water supplies. In shower water, chlorine can strip natural oils from skin and hair, contributing to dryness, irritation, or a strong chlorine odor.
Chlorine
Particulates
Particulates are small solid particles that can enter water from aging pipes or infrastructure wear. In shower water, particulates may contribute to residue buildup on skin, hair, and shower surfaces over time.
Particulates
Lead
Lead can enter water through aging plumbing materials. While exposure is most commonly addressed through drinking water filtration, lead-free shower components help prevent additional material-based exposure during daily use.
Lead
VOCs
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) can be present in water due to industrial activity or water treatment byproducts. In warm shower water, VOCs may become more noticeable through steam and inhalation.
VOCs
PFAS
PFAS are a group of persistent chemicals that can enter water through environmental and industrial contamination. While often undetectable by smell or taste, PFAS can remain in water throughout daily use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Weddell Duo different from other shower filters?

The Weddell Duo is unique in several key ways:

  1. Certified & Verified Performance: It’s the only shower filter certified by NSF to reduce Free Available Chlorine, while also maintaining verified performance in reducing PFAS and particulates, and other contaminants. Most other filters don’t have these certifications and can't guarantee the same level of protection.
  2. Clinically Tested & Dermatologist Approved: Weddell Duo has been clinically tested to improve skin hydration and scalp health, and is dermatologist approved, making it an excellent choice for those with sensitive skin or scalp concerns.
  3. Clear Dual Cartridges for Easy Monitoring: The Weddell Duo has clear dual cartridges, allowing you to see the condition of your filters. The right sediment filter shows discoloration over time, signaling when it needs to be replaced.
  4. Long-Lasting Filters: Weddell Duo’s filters have a life cycle of up to 8,000 gallons, offering longer-lasting protection compared to many other filters on the market.
  5. Easy Installation: Installation is tool-free and the Weddell Duo is compatible with a variety of shower heads, including rain, fixed, and handheld models.

How often do I need to replace the filter cartridges?

You should change your filters if any of the following occurs: 1) 5-6 months has passed, 2) you notice decreased water pressure and/or filter discoloration, or 3) when the rated capacity of the filter cartridge has been reached.

The frequency of replacement depends on your water usage and the quality of your water supply. Regular replacement ensures that your shower water remains clean and safe.

What contaminants does Weddell Duo remove?

Weddell Duo is designed to significantly reduce a wide range of contaminants including chlorine, PFAS, and particulates. This helps to improve the quality of your shower water for healthier skin and hair.

What are the reduction percentages for the contaminants that Weddell Duo removes?

Weddell Duo Shower Filter is NSF certified and has been rigorously tested and verified by an accredited third party lab to ensure high performance. Below are the specific contaminants it removes:

Free Available Chlorine: 99%

PFAS: 99%

Particulates: 99%

While Weddell Duo reduces other contaminants, we only publish reduction claims for those we have tested using established industry standards to prioritize transparency and reliability. Please see our testing data here for the most updated information.

Can I install the Weddell Duo Shower Filter Myself?

Yes, the Weddell Duo Shower Filter is designed for easy, tool-free installation. It fits most standard showers and can be installed in minutes without the need for professional help.

For additional help, please check out our installation guide.

Will installing Weddell Duo affect water pressure?

Weddell Duo is designed to have minimal impact on water pressure. Since our maximum Gallons Per Minute (GPM) rate is 2.8 GPM, which is much higher than typical shower heads (2.5 GPM or less), your overall water pressure will be determined not by Weddell Duo, but by your shower head.

However, as Weddell Duo reaches its full capacity, the accumulation of filtered impurities may slow down the water pressure. This is an indication that it's time to replace the filter cartridges to ensure optimal performance and maintain water pressure.
