Jacqueline, can you share a bit about your personal wellness journey and what led you to embrace holistic healing?

My wellness journey is deeply rooted in my personal story—one that began in adolescence when my mother was diagnosed with Stage II breast cancer. I was 13 at the time, and that experience awakened in me a desire to learn more about a truly integrative approach to cancer care—how healing can come from more than just conventional medicine.

Over the years, I watched how integrative approaches—complementary therapies, nutrition, lifestyle, faith—played roles in her care. When her cancer recurred in 2018 (progressing to Stage IV), the urgency of that path became even clearer.

While studying economics at Babson College, I chose to write my honors thesis advocating for integrative treatment models that combine complementary and conventional care—a seed of what would become WellnStrong. In 2020, I launched my WellnStrong blog to document what I was learning, research for my mom, and engage with others on that journey.

Since then, my path has intertwined wellness, faith, and purpose—encouraging readers not just to “do better,” but to steward their body, mind, and spirit, while acknowledging that ultimately our lives are held in God’s hands.

In your research and experience, what are some of the most overlooked factors in achieving long-term wellness?

From what I see, there are a few areas people often underestimate:

  • The psychological and spiritual dimension — Health isn’t just physical. If we ignore beliefs, hope, meaning, and connection, we’re missing a huge piece of wellness.
  • Hidden environmental exposures — Many people don’t give enough weight to what’s in their water, air, plastics, cleaning products, or personal care items. These small, cumulative burdens can drag us down over time.
  • Nervous-system regulation & resilience — You can do all the “right” things: diet, exercise, supplementation—but if your body is chronically in fight/flight, it can hijack many downstream systems. Regular practices (breathing, rest, prayer, connection with nature) help rewire that.
  • The margin between “good” and “optimal” — Often people aim for extremes (perfect diet, hyper workouts) and burn out. But it’s the small, consistent habits (drinking clean water, sleeping well, movement, community) that tend to carry you over the long run.

I believe when those foundations are stable, everything else becomes that much more powerful.

What role do you think the home environment plays in long-term wellness, and what small changes can make the biggest impact?

Your home is your habitual sanctuary. It’s where the bulk of your restoration—or exposure—happens. Over time, small imbalances accumulate. Here are a few high-leverage shifts I always recommend:

  • Water filtration everywhere — Use a reliable, high-quality filter (or whole-home solution) so your everyday water—drinking, cooking, bathing—is as clean as possible.
  • Swap out toxic cleaners & personal care items — Use plant-based, fragrance-free, non-synthetic options.
  • Choice of materials — Favor glass, stainless, cotton, natural fibers, non-offgassing furniture.
  • Fresh air & natural light — Open windows, bring plants in, use natural daylight whenever possible, minimize artificial lighting at night.
  • Create sacred rest zones — A place reserved for rest, prayer, reading—not screens or hustle—helps reset your nervous system daily.

These aren’t about perfection; they’re about tending to your environment so it supports, instead of works against, your health.

As a holistic wellness advocate, how would you recommend people incorporate Weddell Duo into their self-care routine?

Because our skin is our largest organ, what we bathe in matters just as much as what we drink. The Weddell Duo turns an everyday shower into a self-care ritual by filtering out chlorine, heavy metals, and other impurities before they hit your skin and lungs. I encourage people to think of it as “nutrition for your skin” — making clean water a part of their daily routine, not just their glass. Pair it with your favorite body oil or dry brushing ritual and you’ve elevated a basic habit into a wellness practice.

Are there any non-negotiable wellness habits or rituals you swear by?

Yes — I call these my anchors. No matter how busy or unpredictable life gets, I come back to these:

  1. Daily prayer + journaling — a moment to align, process, and reflect
  2. Morning sunlight exposure — to optimize my circadian rhythm
  3. Movement, even minimal — could even be just a simple walk or stretch
  4. Clean water as default — for drinking, cooking, washing—so hydration is never an afterthought.
  5. Nutrient-dense breakfast — to ground me and set the tone for how I’ll fuel the day

Everything else—protocols, fancy therapies—are supportive tools. But these five are non-negotiables for me.

What’s next for WellnStrong™? Are there any exciting projects or initiatives you’re currently working on?

I’m leaning even more into a faith-based approach to wellness, weaving biblical principles and integrative health together in everything I create. From my podcast to upcoming resources, my focus is on showing how caring for our bodies, minds, and spirits can be an act of stewardship and worship, not just self-improvement. I’m also doubling down on the podcast—bringing in voices who bridge science, faith, and holistic healing, and making those conversations practical and actionable for everyday life. And yes, there’s a new product line in the works—but I’m keeping the details under wraps for now because I want it to be a surprise! :)

We often hear that some of the best ideas come to us in the shower. Have you had any interesting shower thoughts lately, especially related to your work or wellness?

Yes! Recently, I found myself reflecting on how so many health “breakthroughs” get marketed as dramatic, new discoveries—but in truth, the most transformational things are often the most ordinary (like clean water, rest, movement). That led to an idea: a micro-series for WellnStrong called “Daily Drops”—tiny, 60-second wellness prompts you can do in your everyday environment (in the kitchen, shower, car). Micro-shifts, low friction, big ripple!

A heartfelt thank you to Jacqueline Genova for sharing her journey and for the work she does through WellnStrong to make holistic wellness approachable and inspiring. We’re proud to highlight voices that champion balance, resilience, and intentional self-care.
